Procurement Manager

SUMMARY

The Procurement Manager of Packaging will be accountable for the sourcing of all current packaging components used in the production and sale of various fluid milk products, juice, and drinks in 13 manufacturing facilities across the United States. The procurement manager will also collaborate with the product development, marketing, research and development, and operations team within Borden Dairy to source new, innovative packaging to drive sales in the dairy category.  

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the procurement activities supporting the design and development of new, innovative packaging concepts for existing products and R&D pipeline products
  • Coordinate and/or lead trouble-shooting of packaging components and/or packaging process issues with established equipment in the plant production sites achieving new design concepts
  • Identify sources of supply for all packaging supplies and components
  • Procure all packaging components at the lowest possible cost, exceeding quality specifications, and meeting the diverse service requirements at all plant locations
  • Achieve cost saving initiatives and key performance indicators, as communicated by the senior leadership team at Borden Dairy
  • Focus on new product developments in the industry, including new packaging techniques and packaging components used in the production of HTST, ESL, and UHT beverages
  • Work through continuous changes resulting from a dynamic product development environment working closely with cross-functional teams and outside suppliers of packaging materials and services

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelorís degree required
  • 3-5 years procurement experience, preferably in the packaging categories
  • Highly motivated with the ability to multi-task and provide timely feedback on all projects to all stakeholders
  • Strong Excel, Word, PowerPoint and SAP Ariba skills/experience preferred
  • Excellent organizational, analytical and communication/interpersonal skills
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Ability to travel as needed
