Hostler/Mule Driver/Spotter - Dallas

POSITION:          Hostler/Mule Driver/Yard Driver/Spotter                                         

DEPARTMENT:    Shipping

SUPERVISOR:     Shipping Manager/Supervisor                        

SUMMARY:

 Operate yard mules to move trailers to designated loading/unloading sites as directed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: All matters listed herein are considered to be essential job functions. There may be other job functions that are essential, but are not listed below. 

  • Responsible for operating yard mules to move trailers to and from staging areas and loading/unloading docks.
  • Responsible for performing daily maintenance checks and reporting any malfunctions to the garage.
  • Responsible for fueling of the yard mule.
  • Couple and uncouple tractor-trailer units and connecting and disconnecting brake lines as needed.
  • Perform safety check inspection of the trailer.
  • Secure all equipment and complete all necessary paperwork at the end of the shift.
  • Must follow all safety policies and procedures at all times.
  • Must follow companies GMPís, SOPís, and SSOPís at all times.
  • Must wear appropriate PPE at all times.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by Manager/supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS and/or EDUCATION:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.   • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Must have Class B CDL or higher. 
  • Must be organized and detail oriented
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to read chemical labels and follow safe handling procedures for food grade products.
  • Ability to accurately record data.
  • Must be able to work weekends, and varying shifts (days, evenings, nights).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • May be required to work in cold, damp environments and be exposed to the outside weather.
  • Maintain constant mental focus and be constantly aware of surroundings.
