Zone Production Planner

Department: Manufacturing
Location: Dallas, TX

Position Summary:
The Zone Production Planner is responsible for the strategic and tactical planning of manufacturing for assigned plants. The Supply Planner takes the demand plan and develops the supply plans using capacity modeling and Master Production Schedule (MPS), ensuring the lowest cost of ownership model for the business. Effort results in an action plan for constraints and an MPS for the site scheduling team to execute.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Oversees inventory and supply planning responsibilities for assigned plants.
  • Maintains capacity plans and Production plans to ensure the efficient delivery of inventory, service and cost objectives.
  • Identifies ways to improve supply planning processes and tools for assigned areas
  • Production Planning - Production plans are developed to support the business plan for assigned plants.
  • Master Scheduling - Schedule finished goods production for each assigned product group. Supply recommendations are based upon scheduling parameters and system settings (i.e. Safety Stock) that are developed and maintained to support sales and service goals, inventory financial targets, as well as minimizing the age of product when shipped to a customer.
  • Inventory Management - Manage and control finished goods inventories for assigned items in order to achieve the company's financial targets along with utilizing reporting to determine action required to initiate salvage sale or disposal of product
  • Acts as a liaison and communication point between Plants, Zones, Sales & Marketing, Demand Planning, Transportation, Warehousing and Customer Service. Keep all parties apprised of potential problems or issues impacting the business
  • Miscellaneous Tasks - Participate in department and company initiatives requiring the expertise of a supply planner. Activities could include but are not limited to consensus seasonal teams, new product introduction teams, supply chain cost optimization opportunities, or business process initiatives

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • Production Scheduling experience strongly preferred
  • Team player – someone who is comfortable leading but speaks of “we” vs. “I"
